Elise Fisher

Elise Fisher, Assistant Editor

Elise is a junior and assistant editor of the News section. This is her second year on the Gazette staff.

Her room covered in Harry Styles posters, magazines and various crafting supplies, Elise Fisher sits listening to her favorite song “Meet me in the Hallway.”

Fisher is a junior at Granite Bay with a passion for knitting, crocheting and sewing. Her biggest project to date has been an exact replica of a sweater worn by her favorite artist, Harry Styles.

“I learned how to knit when I was 7 … but I hadn’t knit in a long time," Fisher said.

Realizing the popularity of the craft helped her appreciate her hobbies that she previously thought were unusual.

“Everyone [was] making it on TikTok and like social media,” Fisher said.

Besides knitting and sewing, Fisher also enjoys crossword puzzles.

“I got into crosswords recently, I’m not very good at them but that's kinda of the fun of it and it’s nice to do … with my family,” Fisher said.

Fisher likes to spend time with her family and they often talk about one of her other passions, activism.

“My parents are … very political [and]…they’re both like lawyers … [which] made me more comfortable talking about [politics]” Fisher said.

While she cares deeply about all activism, race equity is her main focus.

“I feel like … it’s prevalent in all sorts of political issues like when you look at women's rights or LGBTQ rights there's always … underlying … issues of racism within those subcategories.” Fisher explained.

Fisher got hooked on activism and politics in 2017 when she went to a women’s march with her mom. This has driven her to pursue political science into college.

Overall Fisher values her family, whether it be crosswords or debates she loves spending time with the people she loves.
