Mati Modern Greek Cuisine, with its blue, white and gold aesthetic that mimics the Mediterranean sea, gives a welcoming entrance. The entire restaurant reflected the greek vibe through its color schemes, sculptures and plant life. The restaurant itself was in a generally calm area, fancy and modern, matching their online photos exactly.
For drinks, I was given water by default in a very cute cup that matched the restaurant’s aesthetic. When I received the menu, the detailed descriptions (despite the lack of images) made it easy to know what I wanted to order.
Right away, the menu items were unique with many options to choose from. Some items range from foods I have never heard of to foods everyone has, so it is great for people who want to try new things. I ordered Dolmathes which were grape leaves and Kotopoulo Souvlaki Sandwich.
The grape leaves came first, and the plating was neat, looking appealing to the eye, and amazing. The grapes themselves were savory with a hint of sourness, which was pretty good. The inside had a rice filling that made the dish taste rich.
Next came some bread in a basket. The bread was my favorite, I even asked for a second basket to bring home. The bread was light, topped off with sesame seeds. It tasted very savory and crunchy which was perfect before the main dish.
Finally the main dish arrived with baked potato wedges on the side. The potatoes were sprinkled with a sauce that was a little too sour for my taste but other than that, very chewy and tangy. Moving to the sandwich, again, the plating was neat, amazing and colorful. The bread that wrapped the whole thing together had a really nice quality to it, and finished off the taste. Inside, it was packed with a variety of vegetables, giving the dish a fresh, salad-like quality. The chicken was also incredibly good and grilled very well. Overall very flavorful.
To sum it up, I enjoyed this restaurant and left with a great experience. The food was delicious, and the restaurant visuals were very well done and unique, reminding me of Mediterranean styles. They offer many dishes so it’s great to bring friends or family. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes trying new things and I would go again with friends. I give this restaurant 8.5/10.
