As Valentine’s Day approaches, many food brands use the holiday to promote their products using special menu items catered to the holiday. Crumbl is one of these brands, and they’ve used Valentine’s items in their lineup for this week in honor of that.
How do these cookies compare to each other? What is the best or the worst one in the lineup? These are our rankings in order from worst to best:
The most underwhelming cookie by far was the Valentine Celebration Cake Cookie. This cookie was a cake batter-inspired cookie. Despite the cake batter branding, this cookie was plain and left us a little disappointed. The frosting was a cream cheese, but was definitely on the sweeter side and did not leave us wanting more. The cookie was decorated with festive heart sprinkles, which led us to be intrigued, but overall, this cookie was uninspired and not very creative.
Also at the bottom of the list is the Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Brownie. This cookie was not actually a cookie, but a brownie, inspired by the dubai chocolate trend. This was a brownie topped with a mixture of pistachio cream and toasted kataifi pastry. On top of this mixture was a layer of milk chocolate decorated with fresh, thinly sliced strawberries. While the brownie itself was good, it stayed in the background and was almost hidden by the other flavors. Although the fresh strawberries added crisp flavor to the brownie to tie it all together, this cookie had too many flavors at once and was a little too overpowering, which made it hard to finish.
In fourth place was the Salted Caramel Cheesecake Cookie. This was a graham cracker cookie that was rolled in graham cracker crumbs, with a thick layer of cheesecake frosting on top. The caramel on top of the frosting was the perfect combination of salty and sweet that made the cookie worthwhile. This caramel was the cookie’s true saving grace because aside from this, the cream cheese frosting was way too cheesy and made the cookie taste almost sour. Furthermore, the cookie base had little to no flavor and lacked relevance to the Valentine’s Day theme.
In third place was the Conversation Hearts Pink Sugar Cookie. This cookie is in the regular lineup of cookies that are available every week; however, it had a topper with conversation hearts drawn on it. While this idea wasn’t the most creative, this cookie is a classic. The frosting was very sweet, and the cookie was less so. These two attributes canceled each other out and made for a delicious cookie that isn’t too sweet.
The runner-up for our favorite of the week was the Valentine’s M&M’s Cookie. This cookie was a classic cookie, but in a way that never gets old. Each bite held a satisfying crunch provided by the festive pink and red M&M’s that were mixed in, which balanced out the soft cookie. This cookie may not have been the most innovative, but it felt nostalgic and was definitely one of the highlights of this week.
The top pick of this week’s lineup was the Strawberry Heart Cake. This item was delicate and not overpoweringly sweet. The cake and frosting both tasted like real strawberries as opposed to a regular box cake and frosting you could get at a grocery store. The fluffy texture was wonderful and took the cake to another level where its scrumptiousness was not dependent on flavor like some of the other items on the lineup. Also, the cake was neatly decorated and the heart shape made it creatively on theme.
