Playboi Carti brought his Antagonist Tour to Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center on Oct. 12, delivering a performance that reinforced his reputation as one of hip-hop’s most polarizing live performers. Backed by an elaborate stage design, Carti turned the arena into a blinding -spectacle of lights, bass and pyrotechnics.
Carti showed his place as one of hiphop’s most entertaining performers, blurring the line between rap concert and rager, creating an atmosphere that had everyone on their feet from start to finish. Even for those who didn’t know every lyric, the show was still super entertaining, and totally unforgettable.
The Antagonist Tour, first announced in 2023, faced delays but ramped up in 2025, with the Sacramento show marking the third stop so far. Previous dates have drawn massive crowds and this was no exception with the Golden 1 Center selling out.
Openers like Ken Carson, known for high-energy sets, Destroy Lonely, Homixide Gang, and Apollo Red set the stage for an electrifying night. All of these artists are involved in Carti’s record label “Opium”.
Within the arena, much work was evidently done in preparation for the concert, with many lights and even trucks being brought in within the pit.
The atmosphere and audience were electric with lights and pyrotechnics creating a blinding spectacle within the arena during the openers, with almost no one not on their feet the entire show, and fire erupted from the stage nearly every song.
All the openers performed solid sets and Ken Carson’s performance specifically stood out as the audience were roused to the high energy set, as he proceeded to hype up the crowd and interact with them, keeping everyone engaged.
After the opening artists finished their sets, there was a growing excitement as Carti’s set neared closer. Chants of “Carti” over and over finally met their mark, as he walked out earlier than expected to a roar of applause.
Carti kicked off his show by repeating his hit song “Pop out” twice, to the fans’ delight.
The setlist leaned heavily on his album “Music” with the large majority of songs coming from it, but a few songs came off previous ones.
Throughout the entirety of the show, Carti’s stage presence was unmatched as he ran from side to side, even going into the crowd at one point. The show marked the first time in years where he actually went into the pit to interact with fans. Carti along with the fellow members of Opium did not stand still once, with running, jumping and even a backflip at one point being performed.
Perhaps the most memorable part of the show was the ending as Carti played his unreleased song titled “24 Songs”. The song, whose lyrics are primarily revolving around Carti reflecting on his success and being thankful, lead to a tearful ending to a great show. Carti performed the song, thanking the audience for their support over the years to perfectly tie the knot to the ending.
After a massive round of applause, he played one more song for the encore as he was leaving to finish.
With all of that, I would rate the concert a 9/10. I believe that it was an unforgettable experience, and Playboi Carti delivered a killer, high energy concert that combined solid production, a very responsive and active crowd, and expectation-exceeding performance.
