With the 2024 Grammy Awards coming up, many people and media sites worldwide are expressing their opinions on the nominations along with their predictions on who might win this year’s awards. You’ve probably seen or heard the nominations already, but what do the students at Granite Bay predict the winners of this year’s Grammys will be?

Richard Grube, Senior

What is your opinion on this year’s Grammy nominations?
“I think there are many artists who are heavily underrepresented, like Morgan Wallen who wasn’t even nominated”

Who do you think should’ve been nominated that wasn’t?
“Like I said, Morgan Wallens’ One Thing At a Time should’ve been nominated because it was considered the best country album of the year but wasn’t nominated for a Grammy. So I definitely think that should’ve been one of the nominations.”

Is there a nominee that you feel shouldn’t be nominated this year?
“If I had to say someone I’d probably say Janelle Monáe because I’ve never heard of her.”

Who do you think will win a Grammy this year?
“I think Zach Bryan’s self-titled album will definitely win country album of the year. I also definitely think UTOPIA by Travis Scott will win rap album of the year.”

Kim Song, Senior

What is your opinion on this year’s Grammy nominations?
“I think it’s a great lineup and there’s a lot of cool artists being featured this year. I think a lot of people at our school are excited to see who’s going to win.”

Is there a nominee that you feel shouldn’t be nominated this year?
“I think Ice Spice shouldn’t be nominated because I think she just got famous from TikTok and I don’t think her music is Grammy worthy.”

Who do you think will win a Grammy this year?
“I think Taylor Swift will win because she just went on her Eras Tour and she’s already been really successful, so I think she’ll win.”

Carson Uribe, Sophomore

What is your opinion on this year’s Grammy nominations?
“I think the Grammys are rigged because there isn’t enough Drake on the list. Drake’s like number one in my books.”

Who do you think should’ve been nominated that wasn’t?
“For All The Dogs by Drake definitely should’ve been nominated. That was a great album.”

Is there a nominee that you feel shouldn’t be nominated this year?
“Taylor Swift because I don’t like her music and it makes my ears bleed.”

Who do you think will win a Grammy this year?
“Taylor Swift probably, but also maybe Ice Spice or Fred Again. But I do think Her Loss by Drake will win rap album of the year.”

Sarabellah Leni, Junior

What is your opinion on this year’s Grammy nominations?
“I think almost every artist deserves the nomination because they’re all good musicians and have all contributed good music this year.”

Is there a nominee that you feel shouldn’t be nominated this year?
“I don’t think Ice Spice should be nominated as artist of the year. I don’t like her music and I think there are much better artists that could’ve been nominated”

Who do you think will win a Grammy this year?
“Either Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, or Noah Kahan. I think they all have a good chance of taking home an award.”

Myles Mike, Freshman

What is your opinion on this year’s Grammy nominations?
“I think all the artists nominated are good.”

Is there a nominee that you feel shouldn’t be nominated this year?
“Taylor Swift because I don’t like Taylor Swift.”

Who do you think will win a Grammy this year?
“Ice Spice because I like her music.”

Andreas Georgescu, Senior

What is your opinion on this year’s Grammy nominations?
“I think there are a lot of good artists here. I listened to a lot of the new artists this year and I definitely liked the rap album choices.”

Who do you think should’ve been nominated that wasn’t?
“One of the artists I think should’ve been nominated was KAYTRANADA. He released an album this year and I like his music a lot.”

Is there a nominee that you feel shouldn’t be nominated this year?
“I like NAS but I think he had his best run in the 90s so I don’t really follow him anymore, so probably him.”

Who do you think will win a Grammy this year?
“I hope UTOPIA wins best rap album of the year.”
