From the searing cold sights of Tundra Town to the stormy corners of the Rainforest District, Zootopia 2 promises an awaited sequel full of excitement, twists, turns and even a few slithers. After the release of the first Zootopia in 2016, fans were left eager, hoping for a sequel due to its amazing world-building, hilariously lovable characters and compelling story.
Now, nearly a decade later, the wait is over, and Zootopia 2 hit the theatres on November 26. Fans are on their toes, ready to dive back into the wild adventures of everyone’s favorite duo, Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, where they may face new mysteries and heartwarming moments that will surely catch the hearts of audiences once again.
When Zootopia first came out in 2016, it reached instant success, surpassing $1 billion worldwide just eleven weeks after its release and ranking among the top-grossing Disney films ever made. The movie earned roughly $341 million domestically and $683 million overseas due to its clever mix of humor, heart and society. This time, Zootopia 2 broke over half a billion dollars as the largest global opening for an animated film in 2025.
In the first Zootopia movie, rookie rabbit officer Judy Hopps and sly fox Nick Wilde team up to uncover a conspiracy behind predators mysteriously going “savage,” ultimately restoring peace to the mammal metropolis of Zootopia.
In the sequel, the pair go undercover in new corners of the city—the reptile-populated districts—to solve a major new case. Their investigation trails Gary De’Snake (voiced by Ke Huy Quan), a vicious snake whose arrival threatens the city’s balance, and Mayor Winddancer (Patrick Warburton), a former movie star but now an ambitious politician leading Zootopia.
Returning favorites are back, including Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) and Chief Bogo (Idris Elba). They’re joined by new voices, such as Dr. Fuzzby (Quinta Brunson), the upbeat Zootopia Police Department therapist and Nibbles Maplestick (Fortune Feimster), a resourceful beaver who assists the duo on their latest mission.
The animal who envisioned Zootopia is revealed through their efforts of connecting the animals together. From this, the power of friendship is able to persevere through barriers, transcending over corruption and injustice. The deep connection found between Judy and Nick proved once again that this dynamic duo can be able to do anything in Zootopia, no matter what obstacles or what any animal says!
