Drake’s new album had his fans anticipating the release but left them disappointed.

On October 6th, 2023 Drake dropped his new album “For All the Dogs”. On release day the album got 108.6 million streams on Spotify, and is currently number 2 for albums on Billboard 200 for albums.

Even though it is high on the list for streams upon release, Drake’s eighth album doesn’t show much variety or change.

Each song has a similar beat, mood and lyrical familiarity. It feels like Drake is regressing after each album he releases, with his music and releases getting sloppier.

Although this album isn’t a bright spot for Drake’s music career, it still has some solid songs worth listening to.

The opener for this album, “Virginia Beach”, is one of the highlighted songs in the album. With Frank Ocean having a feature on this song and Drake’s signature vocals and lyrics it’s a great opener to this album.

Another song that’s playlist worthy is IDGAF. The feature from Yeat on this track definitely elevates this song to being noteworthy. It has a great beat and Yeat’s vocals are outstanding.

After these two songs though, this album plummets. The only other good tracks are Daylight, Amen and BBL Love. This album just isn’t Drake’s best work, even after all the delays that Drake had before the release it doesn’t live up to the hype.

There are some great featured artists in this album like SZA, Bad Bunny, J. Cole, 21 Savage and more. We also get a small sample from Drake’s son, Adonis in the song “Daylight”. The features uplift this album to make it slightly better, without the features I would consider this to be Drake’s worst album.

The album cover is made by his son Adonis. It is what you would expect a drawing of a dog to look like coming from a 5 year old but a lot of modern art could look like this and sell for millions of dollars.

But nonetheless this cover art is an interesting choice by Drake to let his 5 year old son make the cover. It’s not the most appealing but it definitely gets points for creativity.

Overall For All the Dogs isn’t a great album and is definitely not going to be in the conversation for album of the year.
Drake has said he is going to take some time off from music and focus on his personal health. Hopefully this break will let Drake have a bounce back album and will get back to the level of greatness he has had in previous years.

I would rate this album a 6.5/10, the features are great and there are a few good songs but this just isn’t going to be considered as one of Drake’s best releases since the overall quality of songs isn’t good.

If you don’t have anything nice to say about Drake’s new album or Drake in general, don’t say it at all.
