“When I was about to leave for practice, I heard the front door ring, and my family told me to answer it,” said Avery Oldemeyer, a sophomore at Granite Bay High School. Intrigued, Oldemeyer opened the door, only to be pleasantly surprised by Christian Jones standing outside, holding a beautiful bouquet. To add to the charm, he held a sign that read, ‘Can this stupid old pickup truck take you to winter ball.’ This is Oldemeyer’s first time being asked to winter ball.

“He used elements from my favorite movie series ‘Divergent’,” said Ari Howard, a sophomore at Granite Bay. The magic unfolded when Hayden Pops arrived at Howard’s doorstep around 7 pm. When she opened the door, she was greeted by a sign that left her momentarily spellbound. The content of the sign, inspired by the ‘Divergent’ series, prompted her to read it not once, but twice before the realization sunk in. Howard joyfully accepted the invitation.

“I knew how happy it would make her, and I loved seeing the reaction on her face,” shared Andreas Georgescu, a senior at Granite Bay High School. In a relationship spanning nearly two years with his girlfriend, Paisley Downes, Georgescu planned a surprise. He arranged for her friend to bring her to a cool parking garage in Old Town Roseville, where he pulled Downes away to the trunk of a car, revealing a Taylor Swift-themed sign. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the night unfolded.
