When I was about to leave for practice, I heard the front door ring, and my family told me to answer it, said Avery Oldemeyer, a sophomore at Granite Bay High School. Intrigued, Oldemeyer opened the door, only to be pleasantly surprised by Christian Jones standing outside, holding a beautiful bouquet. To add to the charm, he held a sign that read, ‘Can this stupid old pickup truck take you to winter ball.’ This is Oldemeyers first time being asked to winter ball.

“He used elements from my favorite movie series ‘Divergent’, said Ari Howard, a sophomore at Granite Bay. The magic unfolded when Hayden Pops arrived at Howards doorstep around 7 pm. When she opened the door, she was greeted by a sign that left her momentarily spellbound. The content of the sign, inspired by the Divergent series, prompted her to read it not once, but twice before the realization sunk in. Howard joyfully accepted the invitation.
