Benjamin Kreisenbeck stood at the edge of the diamond, the sun hitting him behind the home plate lined in front of the backstop at Granite Bay high school’s baseball field. His catcher’s glove receiving the pitcher’s throw, the ball smacking the leather, Kreisenbeck knew that was his favorite place to be. Something about being on the field and catching for the Grizzlies, brought some sort of peace not a lot of people could understand.
The spring of his senior year at Granite Bay was finally here, and it seemed to be moving at a little fast pace for not only him, but a couple of other players as well. The uncertainty about where he’d be playing baseball in a few months gave him a sense of fear. He had always dreamed of playing D1 baseball, following the footsteps of his favorite role model,
“I have one role model, Adley Rutschman, who plays for the Orioles, is also a catcher so I look up to him a lot.”
With college recruitment here now and only a few months to get scouted, Kreisenbeck wasn’t sure what would happen, until Sac City reached out to him a few weeks ago.
In an text interview, Kreisenbeck explained why he committed to Sac City.
“The coaching staff and great reputation of sending players off to big schools. The culture at City is also amazing and a hard working environment.”
When thinking about getting committed and going to his possible dream colleges, he is willing to put in the work as long as he can get into Major League Baseball. Kreisenbeck works extremely hard as the Grizzlies catcher, he is the star catcher and with having the idea of going into the MLB,
“Yes, I think I can get into the MLB, but I still think there is a lot of work that needs to be done.”
Kreisenbeck is a very hard worker when it comes to baseball, he gets would get up early to go to the gym, he eats healthy to keep his physique, and he spends countless hours on the baseball field working. He gives his life to the field, his blood, sweat, and even tears, and him not knowing what his future is going to look like, makes him worried. With the baseball stats as well, Kreisenbeck leads the team with his fielding percentage and he is high up in his batting percentage.
Moose, Kreisenbeck’s baseball coach, has high hopes for him going D1.
“He is one of the hardest working kids out there, and an outstanding catcher, there is no doubt that he wouldn’t get picked up.” Moose said.
