Why do you think it is important to have a support system like Grizz Nation on campus?

Everyone goes through things in high school whether you see it or not, and the more support you get can make it easier… we are stuck with each other we might as well all be friends.”

What does being a Grizz Nation leader mean to you?

“To me, it means carrying yourself with respect and being able to go into different situations and bring people together instead of creating differences and being kind to everyone and get them excited.”

Timothy Reed

What inspired you to become a Grizz Nation leader?

“Last year I saw the Grizz Nation leaders and they looked like they were having fun and going into Senior year I wanted to do more things around campus and this was an opportunity for me.”

Why do you think it is important to get yourself involved in the school?

“ I think it is a good experience because looking back on it, you only get to be in high school one time. There’s a lot of things you can do in high school, especially at Granite Bay you get a lot of opportunities to experience a lot that you won’t be able to experience later.”

Why do you think it is important to have a support system like Grizz Nation on campus?

“From my personal experience I fall on if others think I’m doing good then I feel like I’m doing good. So if your support in that way is somebody cheering for you or always looking out for you…is going to keep you motivated to keep wanting to play that sport and wanting to get better effects if we do good.”

What does being a Grizz Nation leader mean to you?

It means keeping myself to a high integrity as far as even when people aren’t looking at us, we’re still going to keep ourselves to the same standards that you would want us to be.”

Avery Scribner

What inspired you to become a Grizz Nation leader?

“I had a close friend who was one last year and I saw how much fun she was having and I’d always wanted to be one but I never knew how to become one. So I didn’t think about it much until she told me I was going to be interviewed for it and I was super excited. I wanted to do exactly what she did because it looks so fun and so having that opportunity I was so excited.”

What do you hope to accomplish this year as a Grizz Nation leader?

“I want to bring as much energy as I can and be as loud as possible… and make sure everybody hears us and can participate”

Why do you think it is important to have a support system like Grizz Nation on campus?

“I feel like having people cheering you on and being able to see it visually especially if you’re messing up or getting down on yourself and you see people cheering on you and you can hear them, it shifts your mindset and you feel like you can turn the game around.”

What does being a Grizz Nation leader mean to you?

“I’d say giving it my all and encouraging people to support our school and support our teams. Be loud, be proud and be a grizzly and be excited to be here.?

Frank Cusano

How has your experience as a Grizz Nation leader been so far?

“My experience has been really good, it’s been a lot better than I expected. It feels good to be someone that the underclassmen can look up to and just being able to hype the school up and give back to the school that I feel like has given me so much.”

Why do you think it is important to have a support system like Grizz Nation on campus?

I feel it just helps make our school more inclusive and make our school feel like home. It’s easy for the popular kids to be able to have fun at school, but I feel like some of the other kids who aren’t able to get out there as much, platforms like these help get everybody involved and make our school more inclusive and fun for everyone so everyone can feel safe and know that when they’re going to school they’re going to be happy.”

What do you hope to accomplish this year as a Grizz Nation leader?

“It’s really just pushing myself out of my comfort zone because I feel like I struggle with being able to public speak and get in front of everybody and really be someone to look to. So trying to get myself out there and being someone that everyone can look up to for direction and being a good role model is what it is.

What sport are you most excited about this year?

“Our basketball team has been really successful over the past two years and so it’s been really fun to go to those games and the atmosphere is because everyone is super loud. They should have a great team this year and so it’ll be really fun to make sure our school rallies behind the team and they can be really successful.”

Natalie McGuckin

“I love how much spirit all the past Grizz Nation leaders have had and how I’ve looked up to them and I wanted to fill that role this year as my last year at Granite Bay.”

“I think it’s important because it is like a safe space for everybody. It’s a few familiar faces if you don’t know anybody, and you can get to know all kinds of people and I think it’s important to have a leadership role on campus just to hear all the needs from the school”

What legacy do you hope to leave behind for not only Granite Bay High School but for the next generation of Grizz Nation leaders?
