Neon lights surround the room, creating a lively and inviting ambiance, while the aroma of sizzling food fills the air. Groups of family and friends fill the booths cheerfully laughing and chatting, as platters of delicious and juicy meat are brought to the tables.
Located off of Harding Boulevard, Ktown celebrated its grand opening in the month of December. Ktown opened its new location in the Roseville area, becoming a popular spot to eat quickly. The food that they serve is a fusion of Korean BBQ, Hot Pot and a variety of buffet and sushi options.
Entering the restaurant, guests are greeted with numerous booths in several aisles, allowing a large space for customers to walk around and get their food. As I slid into the booths, each table was equipped with six electric stoves built into the countertop and a Korean BBQ grill in the center, ensuring an interactive dining experience for small and large groups of customers to enjoy.
Since the restaurant is based on an “all-you-can-eat” buffet style, you are welcome to walk to the back of the restaurant, where the buffet is located and grab as much food and toppings as you please. The options ranged from appetizers, sushi and raw meat to put into your hot pot soup (scallops, fish cake, beef, etc.).
Additionally, as most of the food could be found at the buffet section, the menu for the restaurant was available online, where customers could scan the QR code at the side of the booth to access the options. Through this menu, I was able to see the hot pot flavors and meats for the Korean BBQ portion.
For the hot pot meal, there were several options, ranging from mild to spicy. I chose Healthy Herb Soup. The soup base was flavorful, but for my personal preference, I would have wanted the herby flavor to be more strong, as it seemed to be more creamy rather than savory. However, after I added some of the toppings from the buffet, such as the spicy bulgogi chicken, the flavors of the meat and the soup base complemented each other perfectly, adding the right amount of spice and flavor.
Veggies, such as the enoki mushrooms, looked fresh and added some texture to the overall soup, as well as some squid and fish balls. The stove could be changed for user convenience, as the buttons were a bit difficult to press since it was part of the electric screen and not a physical button to click.
The restaurant also offered a range of pre-cooked items, including fried chicken, french fries and seafood boil. The buffet features a display of desserts, such as mango slices and tapioca pudding, catering to a variety of preferences.
Overall, I would rate KTown a 9/10. The service was excellent, as the staff was attentive and friendly while asking additional questions to make sure they got the orders correct. Even though the price was on the higher side, it’s worthwhile when going out with friends or family to enjoy a big and interactive meal together.
