Back in May and in the summer, videos from Granite Bay High School Film Media’s Socials advertised the newest carnival coming to town, Grizz Fest. The carnival happened on August 9th, 2025, featuring games and waterslides.
“It was a great opportunity for the whole community to get together, everybody from the teachers to students to the kids, the children, and families. So I thought it was a great way for folks to get out and have fun,” Anthony Davis, GBHS English 9 and 10 teacher, said.
Grizz Fest, a carnival fundraiser, aimed to raise money for the school. The money went to the library, new scoreboards and the classes at the school. The event raised over $100,000. The event ran from 9 am to 12 pm.
The event had an indoor section where attendees tested their luck in the gym and an outdoor section where they made a big splash on the quad. People could dive into all the fun water activities, but not literally. There were three waterslides to enjoy with bounce houses.
Mr. Beidler, the Construction Tech and IM2 teacher, was one of the teachers dunked at the event.
“It was very refreshing,” Beidler said.
The dunk tank is where students could dunk teachers, and even the principal, and also step in line to get dunked as well. The tickets collected from the games outside can be cashed.
The gym had games like cards, basketball and lots of fun activities. People could even get their portraits drawn as well. The carnival also had an area for kids under three to play. Outside the gym, students could test how fast they could throw a ball. Students received three tries and a ticket reward if their third throw was the best.
Grizz Fest also had sponsors there, like Chick-fil-A, Raising Cane’s and Buddy Bleu. Attendees could meet the Chick-fil-A mascot, which was in the gym. Buddy Bleu was on the quad selling merchandise to purchase for people and their dogs. People also had the opportunity to meet and pet dog Bleu, the mascot of Buddy Bleu.
“So my dog Bleu loved the event. She was sporting her cute little trucker hat. She met a lot of nice new friends, and she’s my great little secret weapon, as well as my marketing tool for the company. She’s fabulous,” Stacey, the owner of Buddy Bleu, said.
At the snack bar, attendees had a large selection of food if they got hungry or thirsty. There were hot dogs, burgers, candy bars and other delicious snacks to enjoy, including soft drinks and water. Cash or card was an accepted form of payment. Outside the gym, families were cooking food on the grills.
“I would love to do this again next year. I kind of hope, honestly, it’s a little more in the fall, so it’s cooler. It was really not outside, so I enjoyed the air conditioning this year, and it was like, right when school started back up,” Davis said.
