Commentary: Time Magazine picked the wrong Person of the Year
Every year Time Magazine announces who their person of the year is.
The person of the year is not always just a single person, they can also be a group idea or thing that has done the most to influence the events of the year. This year Time Magazine picked Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as their people of the year.
Though their accomplishments of winning this year’s election and heavily influencing the country this year, I think the frontline workers and vaccine developers have achieved more in comparison to what Biden and Harris have done this year.
This year, nurses and doctors have been put under immense amounts of pressure as Covid-19 patients have filled up ICUs. They have witnessed people dying of the virus and also have tried to stay safe and protected from Covid.
These nurses and doctors are also potentially putting their lives, and the lives of their loved ones, at risk to fight this disease. The amount of time, stress and bravery the frontline workers have shown this year is definitely deserving of the Person/People of the Year award.
Not only should the award have gone to the frontline workers, but it should have also gone to the men and women who helped develop Covid-19 vaccines.
The vaccine is the fastest approved vaccine in history. Usually vaccines can take anywhere from five to ten years to develop, so the fact that a coronavirus vaccine was able to be developed within ten months is a miracle.
Now millions of doses are being sent around the world to vaccinate people and hopefully end this pandemic once and for all.
I believe that it was obvious who the Person/People of the Year should have been, Time Magazine made a mistake not giving it to the frontline workers/vaccine developers.
It was disrespectful to not give it to them for all of the time and energy those people have sacrificed this year for everyone around the world/country.
