Battle of the Clucks: Raising Canes vs. Kiki’s Chicken vs. Popeyes

Kikis+3+Tender+Combo+Meal

Kiki’s 3 Tender Combo Meal

It’s been a long-running discussion between society on which chicken restaurant is the best. In this battle, we will see which of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Kiki’s Chicken Place or Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has the best tender meal, taste and price wise.

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers opened their first location in 2015 in Baton Rouge, now expanding into 749 locations across the U.S. Canes tend to stick to what they are best at: chicken. Each chicken meal comes with Texas toast, fries, a medium drink and one Cane’s sauce. The Coleslaw is included with only the four and six tender meals. We tried the 3 Finger Combo Meal with the included sides and their signature lemonade. The chicken was juicy and was cooked perfectly. It was crispy on the outside, while the inside was tender and juicy. Paired with their signature Cane’s sauce, it was the perfect bite. The sauce complemented the Texas toast, fries and chicken very well. The meal was very filling and came up to a total of $11.29. Raising Canes was the cheapest meal of the three and one of the best tasting.

Kiki’s Chicken Place originally opened in the Roseville Sacramento area in 2015 including multiple food trucks, and over the years they have gained popularity for their wings, chicken tenders and loaded fries. The 3 Tender Combo Meal with fries and lemonade currently costs $13.49. The tenders are juicy and salty, making the perfect combo with the sweet and spicy sauce included on the side. The fries were crispy, but lacked salt. The pink lemonade quenched our thirst and had a great ratio of sour to sweet. It was on the sweeter side of lemonade. The environment was very cozy, and it definitely would be great for a football game night or just hanging out with friends. Overall, Kiki’s Chicken Place was a very close second to Raising Cane’s.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen first opened their doors in 1972 in New Orleans. They are largely known across the U.S. for their chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, biscuits and much more. The 3 tenders meal includes their seasoned fries, a buttermilk biscuit and a regular sized drink along with their chicken. The chicken had a good crunch, but was slightly chewy and small. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. I liked how peppery the fries were and paired excellently with the buttermilk ranch. The lemonade was alright but was slightly bland, lacked flavor and tasted kind of like water with a hint of lemon. The best part of the meal was the buttery and moist buttermilk biscuit. The meal came up to $13.59 and was the most expensive meal of them all.

Overall these meals were great, and we recommend them all. The superior meal in our opinion was Raising Canes, followed closely by Kiki’s and lastly Popeyes.

I really like Popeyes personally but to be honest kikis is the best due to the portion size being the biggest.
